Report: Putin pockets Patriots owner's Super Bowl ring

Ran into this article and thought it was awesome.  It is so interesting to see powerful people manage situations.

Currently on ebay looking to bid on this ring...

Why San Francisco rules...

Woke up yesterday morning crusty, hoping to hang out in the sun and enjoy the nice 70 degree, cool breeze, and sunshine day at the Mission Street Carnaval.

It was my first time at this fair, it was packed but totally worth it.  So many people dancing in the streets, plenty of big acts on 3 or 4 stages and little bands spread throughout the 7-8 blocks.  Even going to the bathroom at the porta-potties was fun because there was a band playing some samba music so you can dance while you wait <grin>.

All of that was cool but this is why San Francisco rules...

After hanging at one of the fairs many beer gardens that had a DJ spinning the classics (NWA, Public Enemy, RUN-DMC, you get the idea) we started looking for a place where we can get some margaritas and food.  As we were walking up 20th street, approaching Shotwell, there is an open garage the shape of a hanger.  Inside this hanger was a truck, boat, and trailer and that was just the living room.  There was a free standing latter to climb into the other rooms.  We ended up staying at this new party for a couple hours...

Hunger eventially set in so we all went to Pancho Villa.  I had an Al Pastor Deluxe burrito...!

Hope everyone is having a Happy Memorial Day...

Being Acquired... !

A little belated but MessageCast was acquired by Microsoft a couple Thursdays back.

During the actual transistion the MessageCast team was heads down cranking away.  A process is similar 3 or 4 college finals due on the same day.  We were so focused and so close to the details making sure everything goes as smoothly as possible that I'm not really sure anyone had a chance to reflect on how far we have come in 2 1/2 years!  It has been a wild ride and we're only in like the 3rd inning...

There is an excitement in the air and I'm looking forward to the exciting times ahead...

Watch out, here we come...

lucky bast*rds...

When I was little I used to dig holes in the backyard of my parents suburban house.  The dream was to find what these guys found...

$100,000 worth of cash, gold, silver from before 1930!

What gets me going...

What gets me going in the morning.

Time magazine just listed the "Time 100 most influential people".  Their list is nice, mildly interesting, and has some mildly cool guest writers talking about their favorite people...

But man did they miss the mark.  The "LiveMessage Mike most influential person" is none other than Howard Stern.

Top 5 Reasons:

  1. He is independently defending himself against a very conservative, possibly corrupt FCC.
  2. He understands what equals a good interview.  Way to many kiss ass, no insightful, interviews on FOX News, CNN, the Today Show or Regis and Kelly.
  3. He makes me laugh at least once every morning during my commute.
  4. His bits rock.  He was able to cross the streams of two chinese restaurants looking to take down 'take out' orders off of each other.  This bit happened yesterday, one of the most creative and tricky bits I have heard in a long time.
  5. I have already purchased satellite radio.  I don't plan to miss a beat when he is allowed to talk like we do everyday.

Long live the king of all media!

Frank Miller and Sin City

Around 1991 I was introduced to Frank Miller and "grown up" graphic novels...

Must read classics:

  1. Batman: The Dark Knight Returns
  2. Ronin
  3. Hard Boiled

Then came the Sin City series...  At the comic store I would pick up, flip thru, put it down for something a little more in your face.

Then last Sunday, I went to see the Sin City movie.  Ah man, Mickey Rourke storyline were totally incredible.  If you're into edgy dramas, "grown up" story lines laid out in comic book fashion, you're going to dig this movie.

After seeing the movie, I just ordered the first 3 volumes of Sin City...  Something I never do, buy the book after seeing the movie.

Alert Roll Update: SFist

I have been reading the SFist blog for some time.  These guys are pretty dead on with keeping up with the cool stuff going on in SF.

The ultimate mix

Just ran across this pretty cool article in wired (The Best 90 Minutes of My Life) written by thurston moore (sonic youth)...  This guy seems to sum up what I like about mixes.

Moore, "Once again, we're being told that home taping (in the form of ripping and burning) is killing music. But it's not: It simply exists as a nod to the true love and ego involved in sharing music with friends and lovers."

Fast Food

Anyone who has gotten to know me over the last 5 years knows that I do not eat fast food.  I even have a blacklist of restuarants I will not enter.

My basic rule is if I need a burger don't go to McDonalds, Burger King, etc. go to the local hot spot and get a fresh burger.  If I need a taco, don't go to Taco Bell go to the local taqueria.  If I need pizza don't go to Pizza Hut, go to the guy down the street kicking out the fresh pies.

You get the idea...  by eating at non-chain local establishments, I believe I'm eating less and most important minimizing the junk...!

The reason for this post is not to preach no-fast food,  that's really silly.  It is to point out that the new Burger King "Enormous Omelete Sandwich" is f'n funny as hell...!  Forget the health craze and go for the other way with it.  The real american addiction = fast food.
